Question about PCM programming
Just got back from the dealer doing some minor maintenance work on my 04 Crew Cab.
While talking to the service advisor, he said he would go ahead and have a PCM upgrade done to see if that would partially solve my rough idle problem.
When I picked up the truck, I did not see anything on the invoice that they actually did that - so I asked him. He said they had done it.
So, when I got home, I hooked up my OBD reader, and pulled up the calibration information. It lists a calibration file, RXAQ3AZ.hex, and some other information.
Using the catchword on the door pillar, I used the motorcraft.com site to see if there were upgrades. For that catchword, they have 3 later revisions.
How can I find out if they actually did the upgrade? There is no reference to that hex filename anywhere on motorcrafts documents. If they did upgrade it, they obviously did not change the sticker.
The other information from the code reader (which I do not know what it means):
$7e8
CVN 51 3f ae f1
Thanks to any tech types that can help me out!!!
Kevin
Hey, thanks for the replies.
Is that something the dealer would be willing to share? Can I get it from Ford?
I know I have seen some members here offer to get the report for some people, I just don't know who.
Thanks
Kevin

Dealerships generally won't give you the report. Some of the dealer techs here offer it as a courtesy. Make sure you recognise them and thank them for it afterwards, and some rep points to them would be a nice gesture as well (click the scales icon on the top-right of any of their posts).
