Well, im looking into a 1991 Ford F-250 Reg. Cab Long Bed. It had a little rust, but is over all very solid. However, it has a 300 straight six and a manual trans. The engine has about 180,000 miles on it and is leaking oil from a lot of places. I have a 460 out of a 1993 Ford F-250 that is sitting on my garage floor. I have converted it to a carburetor and an aftermarket HEI distributor, no Duraspark. It runs pretty good. My question is this, how hard would it be to install this in the straight sixes place? will the stock mounts on the big block line up on the truck as it too came from the same chassis design and it too was an f-250. I know i will need a new trans and crossmember, but thats ok. I know some will criticize about using a carb where fuel injection once lived, but it is simply easier. I know how to diagnose and repair fuel injection, its just easier to slap on a carb. this is not gonna be a daily driver, just a weekend beater to haul my bike and play in the mud. i'd like 6 inches of lift and 37's eventually. so, how hard will it be guys? any help? links to old posts maybe? anything will help. thanks.
Ive done the 300 to 302 but not the 460. L and L products makes alot of big block swap parts. The trans will be the different for sure, the motor mount rivots will have to be ground off and big block mounts bolted in place. If you have a manual, you wont need a computer to operate E4OD.
