For a big guy it sure does - I saw a magazine article a few years ago and they used some big athletes for comparing interior room in Suv's - from small to medium ones, then like the full size Expeditions and Yukons. The big Excursion was in a league of its own for roominess for these big guys. The Dmax cab is quieter though!
I have a friend with an 1999 SD w/7.3 looking to trade up - I will be watching this closely as his nephews run a new Dmax and a SD w/ 6.4. I have only been in a 6.4 half a dozen times but my first impression is that it rivals the Isuzu (man that name sounds like it should burn rice!! ) in terms of refinement and mannerisms but drinks fuel like there is no tomorrow.
Both the new Superduty and Dmax interiors make any of our older ones feel like they are old farm trucks though!
I am going to see about driving that Limited Edition Dodge (Resistol? / Bighorn?) whatever its called in the megacab short box dually configuration just to see what they are like and how the 6.7 Cummins runs.
i'll give my honest opion about that resistol edition dodge... it is one sharp looking truck. would i ever buy or have one?? heck no, but it does look pretty.
The Dmax is gone back to its owner
my truck never got finished - leading edges of dually fender were repainted on the bottom up to the stripe and a new stripe installed. The chrome insert was not installed, the chips were not filled, and the truck was not polished!
Progress will continue next week then the interior gets detailed back at Hbdt as a compensatory offer for three trips back to get the factory visor replaced by SGI.
Just like Rodney Dangerfield would have put it - NO RESPECT!!!
The body shop was short staffed due to one guy quitting and another one sick on top of holiday season -got truck out Friday and used it all weekend - goes back Monday for the chrome insert install and polishing.
So one thing you never really elaborated on was the power and the fuel economy differences of the two!
I know you mentioned that the zuzi needed some more pedal, but did you find out that after getting used to it, that was still the case? What about some 1/4 mile times?
And the thing the chevy is supposedly most well known for is the increased fuel economy, what did you find out? I know your foot is heavy, but still, would be interesting to know!
I wanna see the 6.4 vs the D/M (6.6 is it?) vs the 6.7 cummins review by you warren!
Its hard to compare 475 or so hp to the 325 on the Dmax - it seemed lazy but when I took my truck in I had it stock and I couldnt beleive how lame it was too. POWER CORRUPTS!!
Stock to stock we raced them but its pointless - I see taillights every time. Mine is a dually w/4.10 and his is a SRW w/ 3.73. To even things up we ran another 6.0 SRW w/3.73 along mine and they were about the same so FORD loses this one.Kelly's 6.0 is around the 19 mark and Wards Dmax will do about the 20 mark with similar driving and mine will be 18 or so. Those mpg are comparissons as there is about 1-2 mpg either way thats available depends how you drive - these are all similar driving. Braking was similar but the FORD takes more pedal effort, just like the Dmax does on the throttle.
There is a fresh post in the Superduty forums about some guy with a 6.4 complaining that his buddy's Dmax smokes him by 5 lengths - I know the power is up on the new Dmax but Ward only beats me by 3 or so (standing or rolling start up until they kick out).

i'd be calling troll on that one. there's way too many people come on here and do that... maybe a length or so, but unless you got a really lazy foot, there's no way the d-max would beat the 6.4 that bad stock for stock!!
I cant say for sure, but I have heard those new D/M will whoop pretty much anything in a race while stock, and pretty good too.
But honestly who buys a heavy duty truck for racing. I just like to know for the curiosity factor myself, I would never buy a 3/4 or 1 ton cause it was faster then another brand.

oh... ME!! absolutely!! all the way. i gotta be the fastest, all the time really though, i know what you're saying... when i buy a truck, it must please me, only me, in all aspects of how i need a truck... no doubt there are many guys who are just out there to beat the jone's but it's not what trucks are for...
