New CPS

I decided to go in and get a new CPS only if they would give me the old black one. I asked to speak with the guy that was going to work on my truck and I told him I wanted the old black unit if he was going to put the gray one on. He said they have to return the old part to Ford and I handed him the TSB that is out on the new gray unit. He read the paper and told me he was going to look in his old parts bin and try to find another one and send it back so I could keep mine. He would give me my old one so I could put it in the glove box. He was surprised to see the TSB on the gray CPS. I got to keep my black unit, which is not that old, so I feel much better about it. I’ll check my truck for codes and see if anything happens.

I don't believe the tech when he says they have to send the old one in. When I got my recall done the tech crawled under my truck and found a nearly new CPS already installed- he handed me the new gray unit in the bag and sent me on my way. The gray one lives in my glove box as a spare.

Man I agree with the “don’t believe the tech” statement. I’m so damn paranoid when I let anyone touch one of my vehicles. You never know if you’re getting a line of bull or not...or what they may do to your truck/car. I took my new car into a Toyota dealer to get the oil changed and they left the oil cap off. I ended up with oil all over my hood and engine. About five months later my father took his car to the same dealer and they did the same thing to his car!

This is why if I ever have to take my vehicle to someone, I watch everything they do to it.
