i changed to royal purple 5-20 at 68000 miles on my 04. only thing i noticed that changed was my gas milage went up about .5 to 1 mpg better. i dont see a problem with it but thats just my opinion. the good thing about going to full syn is you can go longer between oil changes. i go 5000 miles
have to disagree with Osborn. Dino oil has BIG particles floating around with it, Syn has LITTLE particles floating around in it. Which one do you want scraping the cylinder walls? Of course if you just drive a particular vehicle for a couple yrs, you wont notice any dif. Has anyone noticed that reg oil has went up in price, but syn hasnt? Still paying about the same for Mobil 1 that I was before the crude went crazy. I have noticed that my '72 390 will use a little more syn than the dino oil. It doesnt burn it, but it looks like gasket leakage. (With the syn I notice a slight film of oil in the antifreeze tank after a few months, but with reg oil it isnt there.)

that's what I was talking about with the synthetics...very slick and get into all the little cracks/crevices better...and it'll find every single bad gasket you have
I have been very impressed with Motorcraft synthetic blend. I'm now using it in our two saturn VUEs and of course in the F-150. I was using Mobil-1 in the VUEs and had been for several years. Because the 3.0L V6 in the VUEs tends to dirty the oil quicker, I went to shorter change intervals with the synthetic blend.
Been using the Motorcraft synthetic blend in my 04 F150 Crew and it now has 175,000 miles on it. Motor does not use oil, plugs have never been changed and I still get 17.5 MPG on the highway. I'm not switching!
maybe a dumb question, but with synthetic oil being that much thinner and lighter, would the running oil pressure change at all?? like, lighter oil, more pressure sort of deal??
