depends on which way you go and where you start from...i live in the SW part of Vegas(closest area to Pahrump) and it's about 50 miles...add 10-15 if starting from Henderson..
regardless the roads are good and it'll take less than an hour with good weather...
if you're looking to move to Pahrump and work in Vegas, the only problems you may have will be in the winter...there is a 5500' pass to negotiate on hwy 160 which gets snow, but nothing major...it'll just slow you down..

I was thinking about a area like Pahrump or any place close to LV where I can have a garden and such and lower rent.
an outdoor garden in southern nevada is very tough to do, unless you like gardening sagebrush.. alot of people are making the commute for work from Pahrump to Vegas lately..

Well, there aren't a lot of places 'around' Vegas. It takes up the whole valley now and runs into Henderson and Boulder City. Do you need to be near there for work or something?

what about Death Valley and the Nellis bombing range?
Vegas is sort of an island in the desert..there are some really cool little communities north of Vegas like Caliente and Alamo...They are small though and a couple hours away..
You better check out Pahrump real close. It is one of the most corrupted places in the State. Every Gang in LA has a good foot hold in Pahrump today. We lived there from 1999 when it was a great place until 2004. Every time we go back there I'm reminded why we left. The D.A got another drunk driving charge & wrecked another New County Truck in California & was let go. They finally charged him in California when 6 hours later he wrecked another car drunk. This is normal every day business. If you speak out against any of the public corruption you face serious problems. I know a guy that spoke out 4 years ago about the DA the same drunk still in office, & was arrested on a mental hold & held for over a year.
I'm not BSing you. Land corruption is unbelievable.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. See if the website Pahrumpsucks.com is still up & running, it will tell you all you need to know. Five money families control what the gangs don't. Pahrump.
