Doesn't look to bad, never seen one before. But if i had my way and was running stacks i would run 5 inch through the bed with(4 OR 5) 4 inch pipe organs. Imagine 4 or 5 stacks in a line smokin? Alright, bartender, another round..... I know, grandpa,s rail!
Yep, its chuggin with a light mist. I dropped the hose straight down next to the front axle. Had it idling in the driveway, didn't notice the smell yet. If it starts getting bad, i'll throw on a extension to the back.
Well, knowing Kris, this setup is for real and for performance gains. No way would you cut an extra hole in the box for kicks. I think you might miss your toolbox though.
Thanks for the comments guys. I did it because i was the only truck in my county with "goofy" stacks on a ford, and now everyone and their brother has them, plus most of them are 6" miters. I am keeping the old setup just in case i decide i do not like this. I did it because i had some money burning a hole in my pocket, plus i wanted to be different and try new things. I cut a new hole, but i dont know, i might offset it on one side. Its easy enough to dick around with and move it around.
The sound, my god it is amazing how much QUIETER it got in the truck. With the windows up you wouldn't notice it more than a regular side exit exhaust, possibly less since its throwing the sound up in the air, not near the corners where you can easily hear it. Open the back window though, and the cab will quickly fill with smoke, as well as the bed. Driving at normal speeds and chugging smoke fills the bed with smoke, it swirls around and then goes out the back. *Might* not be the best daily driver setup, but it would be good for racing. Ive always loved how the racing trucks with a centered stack throw the smoke and you can't see where its coming from, from the front of the truck. (Ryan Bean's Hot Hooker)
I need to get some pictures of it making smoke, it does a damn good job of shooting it up in the air (that's what i was after). Powerbraking in 140 under the stall speed of the converter would shoot it about 30' into the air, i imagine higher once the tires break loose and the engine revs out. We'll see about that one
Edit- Plus, i don't know if it's my brain trying to justify the cost of this, or Ernest was actually right... Less exhaust space means better performance. The truck seems to accelerate quicker once underway.
Well i for one can't wait to see the smoke pour out of that stack! That looks like it will be wicked. I thought bigger was better for diesels because of no back pressure issue? This is in regard to you edit.
It's very thick. Once the bed fills with smoke and it starts pouring out over the tailgate, it makes it VERY hard to see anything behind me, at speed. It's gonna make our clothes all sooty next time we get back in there, so im going to have to do something about that.
Sitting still powerbraking with no wind, it looks damn cool...thats my opinion BTW it looks like i will be able to make it to carlisle.

Nail it just when the cops are on your tail, lol. Awesome Kris, looking foward to meeting you. Keep that stack on there, like to check that out. Are you staying for the weekend or doing a day trip?
