Emission Light On

So I got 2006 F150 and the other night leaving the 4th of July I got it stuck in mud and water over mid tire. I got pulled out and everything was fine until I noticed there was a light on. I went and got my truck washed off and then went home and looked up what the light was... emission. What do you guys think is wrong? I've read some stuff about it on here, some say it just comes on every however many thousand miles, or could it be something else?

What code is it popping? Go to auto zone (i hate saying that, cuz those fools are dangerous...) and they'll read it for free. Or buy an Edge, or buy a cheap little handheld scanner from auto zone.

You need to find out soon if it's an O2 sensor which shouldn't have got hurt, though might have been submerged depending on the angle you were at...Wire might have gotten ripped off of it...

You hook a scanner to it, and it gives you a code out of the OBD-II port...It monitors your engine, and more for problems...Helps to "narrow it down" instead of paying for senseless repairs.
