has anyone used or heard of these refrigants, Enviro-Safe, Freeze-12, or Glacier Gold brand hydrocarbon refrigerants? i found this website: www.AutoRefrigerants.Com they make some clams that this stuff is ULTRA EFFICIENT. one 6oz can is equal to one 18oz can of R-12 and is 9.4* F colder. and one 6oz can equal to 16oz of R-134 and 15.4* colder. and it use's less pressure so your compressor doesnt have to work as much. saving horsepower and gas. AND IT'S CHEAP!! and no license required. this stuff sounds to good to be true.
Yes I have heard of all of them. Would I use any of them. Never. Yes, they are EPA approved so why not use them? What are they EPA approved for. Only for not harming the Ozone. Will they harm your A/C system. some of them will. Some are corrosive, some are explosive, watch out. Where did I get this information? From every seminar I have ever been to. Does that make me an expert? No. I have no reason to doubt what these instructors are saying and so far no one has ever suggested that you use anything other than R12 or R134. They have all supplied us with Spec. sheets on what all these other refrigerants are made of any you can draw your own conclusions based on that if you dont beleive them. What ever you decide to do research your product and make an informed decision. MY 2 cents.
I have used Autofrost (R-406) in both my car and truck for the last three years and have not had any problems. It is compatible with the mineral oil used with R-12 and no "O" ring replacement is necesary. I did replact the "O" rings though because I suspected some leaks. You can view the spec sheets and all other information on their website at www.autofrost.com.
Nitro94 put out alot of good information there. I have used freeze 12 before as a substitute for R-12 and it worked fine for the short period that I owned the truck I had put it in. I sold it shortly afterwards, so I can't tell you if it had any long term effects on the system. Sounds like he has the expert advise on this issue and obviously has done his homework.
