CAI = CWA intake if you off-road through water...lol Cold WATER intake... Don't waste your money, they do nothing. Besides, all the tuners are set for "stock" systems, before aftermarket. A buddy of mine has the same truck, with the same tuner...His CAI and my stocker both read the same temp at the MAF. Only difference? His is much noisier than mine under the hood.
you do get a little better peddle response. it wont make the truck faster or better fuel mileage. but the peddle does respond a little better. some people like the added noise a cai gives a truck. i personaly LOVE it.
sorry i forgot to answer your queston. thats why were all here right? i would go on ebay and whice ever you find cheaper, buy it. theres not really a difference in the name or quality

Looking at your mod list, you don't even HAVE a cai...
P.S. It's a Diablosport "Predator"....not preditor. Update your sig if you love your cai so much. And, by the way, a cai isn't going to increase your throttle response...it's noisier, so you hear it, and believe it increases it. Your truck doesn't move an inch off the line any faster.
well im sorry my bad spelling and non scientific opinions have offended you. its all just OPINIONS!!!. and my throttle feels more responsive with the cai installed. every truck is different.
I couldnt find on the volant site anything for an 06 4.2L. seems weird to me. if its returnable at all, take the 300 dollor plunge and try it out,if it doesnt work, return it. i dont think there were any changes made between the years but i could be wrong. hopefully someone else who knows will chime in with some info that can truly help you out. sorry buddy
my throttle response got better as well. I bought my Volant way back when they were brand new on the market. but yeah, mostly it's just more noise under the hood
be careful. the 07+ V-8's have different belt/pulley setups than 04-06 models. the 4.2 is probably the same...so the CAI probably won't fit. ask Volant's tech center first

My throttle response got a little better when I installed that Edge last weekend. I've never seen a cwa do anything with a drive-by-wire setup. JMO...
Those who say a CAI isn't going to give you better throttle response are wrong. I can tell you when I installed mine it was like a night and day difference between what it was before installing the CAI. Trust me when I tell you that you will certainly get better throttle response by adding a CAI unless you do as suggested and go onto ebay and buy the cheapest system on there.
As far as recommendations let me be the first to say you get what you pay for. Don't go onto ebay and buy the cheapest system as suggested once, like my dad always says "you buy junk, you own junk." I'd highly recommend getting yourself the 3" Air Force 1 which doesn't require custom tuning. The 3.5" tube requires custom tuning.
I hope to see your truck on the road, swing by Wahiawa and see my small collection of trucks. Just kidding.
I hope you enjoy FTE, spend your money on your truck the way you want to.
Volant, AFE, Outlaw have limited applications for their products. Most of the time the need a truck from someone willing to let them "borrow" it for awhile, while R&D is done.
Careful research by consumers has to be done before buying any mods for a new truck. We see I all the time here on FTE, people spending money on parts that are not needed.
I myself have seen what damage can be done by K&N filters, so take the information you get here and make your own decisions.

mine does too I love the sound and the response I get when I push the pedal now. I just got mine and its a s&B cold air intake and I haven't yet updated my profile. I can definitely tell a difference between the stock and this s&b in my 06 fx4 scab very impressed even if it don't help the gas mileage i'm satisfied lol!!!

i couldnt agree with you more. i got bit hard by doing that. the first cai i bought was cheap and it threw codes. what i ment was, the cheapest K&N or VOLANT or S&B you find on ebay. name brand and quality. not just the cheapest. i should have been clearer. my mistake.

nice to see you migrating to the other big F-150 forum
the naysayers claim it doesn't. they also claim it doesn't affect MPG/HP. Maybe they are a big sugar pill. But I for one am happy about the $279 I spent on my Volant. Reduced some of my throttle lag and I swear there is a nasty cranky old big block 460 under the hood when I floor it.
Plus I save $32.99 per Motorcraft_5.4 _filter by being able to clean my current RE-USEABLE one. Figure it'll pay for the CAI after about 2.5 yrs (3 filters/yr). I think it's about 1 or 2 more filters before my initial "investment" pays for itself.
