almost scammed
Went to the local, "Discount Tire" (that is the name of the place) to have a flat fixed. They tried to tell me I'll need a new tire due to a screw in the sidewall. I knew this wasn't true because I looked the tire over before I took it in, and it has had a slow leak for the last 3 months. I told them to just put on the spare, because I was broke. (They wanted $105.00 for a replacment!) I went out to the garage, and the installer told me the steel belting on the spare was separated. I told him to put on the old tire. He fixed the slow leak which was a small paperclip stuck in the tread. I asked him about the screw in the sidewall, and he didn't know what I was talking about. I told him the salesperson said the tire was no good due to a screw in the sidewall. He just kept quiet!
