Just wondering if I need to disconnect the batteries before I tear into the PCM? I know I need to remove the key from the ignition, but I didn't know about batteries? Getting ready to order a DP finally in the next couple weeks and I need the code on my PCM!!!!! Thanks in advance!

I don't know about that. I took mine out once and just removed the key. Jody took mine out last time and just removed the key. If you're a real dummy maybe you better unhook the batteries, but it must not be necessary.
I'm on the same train of thought as Mark. I just did mine, and I did not disconnect the batteries.
Hardest part of the install for me was a toss-up: Getting to the 10mm bolt on the PCM harness and cleaning the silicone from the board. I was pretty sure I could clean the board well enough, but it does require a touch!
It wasn't pretty quickly Jason we had them swapped out every 5 minutes lol, there was alot of PCMs laying around that day. Its a simple thing just as long as the key is not in the truck it won't cause no harm atleast it never did for us.

Mine didn't start after the chip install. I had to cleand the board some more. (Didn't unhook the batteries the second time) I was afraid of "overdoing it" at first. A little more cleaning and it was good to go. No problems since. Never did install the revised cable that I was sent. I will have to put it on the next time. Might be a while.
Basic rule of thumb is if you are in doubt, disconnect the battery. Don't know of any situation it will hurt. Maybe someone out there knows of one. For the PCM, key removed should be fine as there would be no power there without ignition.
