Well our engines use a heavy duty rad usually 4 core.....
I have used Ford ...lasted a year and 1 day just past the warranty. I now have a lifetime warranty.......VISTEON of Brazil they make for several other outlets/brand names ie Modine, DPI, VALEO, GDI, CSF. Check out where the replacement is made, Brazil is the best right now. Ford .......Checkoslovakia and Poland suck......
You should run a good quality anti-freeze and an anti-cavitation additive. Or you can get everything ready mixed. Also better not to use "hard" tap water in the mix.
I just replaced my rad with a unit from NAPA. it was 409.00. 3 core. But it's the biggest one for a F series diesel. Also put on a new plate N tube cooler. the 26000gross one.
My thermostat also came from there. It had the little bypass hole in it, so I eliminated the bypass hose from the heater core. Thats lasted me almost a year so far. 0 problems.
I also flushed the engine out and added 4 gallons of fleet antifreeze. contains the sca's already. Did a test strip dip, and came up with full charge, 7.5 ph, and -50 freeze protection. Couldn't be easier.
