Hey,
On my '74 Highboy the front axle has been disasembled, due to being all time 4x4. The driver side of the axle (from the diff over) is missing! its hollow!
Would it be better to look for another axle to put under it, or re-build the one thats in it? I know the one thats in it is a great axle, but im also missing the front drive shaft and i thought i would be easier to find a 4x4 in the junk yard and take both. I also thought since i gotta rebuild it, i could get the axle shaft, and the other parts and also put possi on it as well as looking hubs, and a part-time kit on the transfer case!? which way should i go? I want to do this right as i plan on keeping this ol' boy
I have a '74 d 60 that is for sale, but i think that the shipping may be to $$$, although it could be good for you, because it would include the power assist steering set up(s)....pm me if you need more info. An upgrade would be sweet, to the newer disc brake set up, though!!
How much you askin for the axle? Do you have the front drive line for it? The previous owner got rid of the one for my truck and thats the bigget problem i have with the axle....
