OK so ol' fumblefingers is at it again. I was in the process of hooking up the tranny and boost gauge. Tranny is done so I start on the boost gauge. As I unscrew the brass fitting for the backside of the gauge something falls out, bounces off my running board and into the tiny part-swallowing abyss otherwise known as my stone garage floor. Looked for 15 minutes, nothing. I never even saw what the piece looked like. Now I imagine that something like this can be purchased at the local Home Depot or Lowes, can anyone of you fine gentlemen point me in the right direction? Maybe a picture of the lost thingy? I figure I'll have to buy the whole fitting, just want to make sure I get the right one. Happy 4th of July, and thank all the Servicemen and women!
probably just the brass ferrule for your inlet tube...it's basically a little collar that slides over the tubing and when you tighten the fitting, it will compress and seal..you can get a new one from just about any home improvement store in the plumbing aisle...should be for 1/8" tube...you can buy them seperately (like 3 in a bag) for about a buck...
You should have gotten another one for the intake side of the pressure tube. It is a litte triangle looking part that you lost. Like William said its the ferruel. You should be able to get one at a hardware store. They are real cheap and I dropped mine too. I think I got it at Lowes or a local autoparts store.
Good point, Sarge. Didn't think about that, I was too busy cussin'! I did wise up yesterday though. I greased my upper BJ's and while removing that little plug, threaded in the 45 deg. zerk, and back to the little plug, I slid my mortar pan under where I was working. Good thing, too as I dropped the little plug. BTW anyone else have the pleasure of greasing those upper BJ's? That isn't the most fun job I tell ya
just take a small snip of your tubing with you to the hardware store or the other ferrule you still have for a match. you may have to buy a whole fitting just to get another ferrule without running all over town for a .01 cent part.
I had to buy the whole compresssion fiting just to get the ferrule. It was less than a buck, but it was well worth it at 4.99 a gallon for fuel. My parts stores are about 25 minuties from eachother in opposite directions.
