I worked in Cudworth and did several trucks for teeny Zimmer back then. He used to go to Ont. and bring back Louisville trucks that were not that old, but rust was starting. He have us fix the rust and give the trucks a neato paint job and sell them to the farmers as grain trucks. He also brought back some tractor trailer trucks and we did them up and drove them to Edmonton where he sold them.
I only worked at Schultzkies for 6 months. Then they laid me off when I asked about the raise I was suspose to get after working there for 3 months. The next week in the paper was an ad for a bodyman to replace me. I didn't know it at the time but what they were doing is against the labor law on laying me off to avoid a pronmise pay raise. Lucky me I got hiredon at Ryan's autobody here in Saskatoon as a frameman.
That was the case with many truck dealers back then - bring home rusted out eastern junk, clean it up, install a box and sell it to some farmer.
Glenn, was Kim Duford at the body shop back then?
We are going to look around this afternoon - I have an appointment in Humboldt tomorrow morning and then another late in the day in Stoon to get my racerback mounted - a high speed incident resulted in carnage (again!!!) but well worth it when unsuspecting sports car or another chipped truck remains in rear view mirror
