Random topic about noise
Has anyone else really noticed that our trucks are extremely noisy in the cab. I have had three of these trucks and they almost seem to have engine noise piped in through the radio. My 6.9 diesel is the worst. Maybe they were quieter when they were new, but I have rode in some 70s trucks that were quieter. All in all, I still love my trucks, even with the noise.

actucaully my 86 f250 is quiet.i just put cherry bomb turbo mufflers on and i still can't hear the motor unless the windows are open.the door and window seals are in great shape and my floor mat is insulated.plus my cab isn't very rusty ether.i do get rattles when i forget to unlock my front hubs on the street.that radio noise you say sounds like your alternator could be on it's way out,or you could have a bad battery.

His trucks may not be equipped with the sound deadening package.
It was an option. My 1972, and 1981 have it. My 1973 did not and it was loud.
If the truck has the package the firewall will be covered in sound deadening insulation, and the carpet or floormat will have foam or cork insulation.
Mine is so quiet I can barely hear the engine run at idle or at cruising speed. even with the windows down. Wind noise is louder than the engine with the windows down.

Wow, I got the short end of the stick. My 1980 is a Custom which was the worst when it came to options, and I don't know about my diesel since the badging is all gone, but I know that it is a loud engine even when you are standing in front of the truck.
My floorboards might also be part of the issue since they are non-existant in the diesel.
