wiper spec question

hello from the 48-60 forum. i put a 98 ranger wiper motor in my 49 f-1. the truck is 12v, neg. ground. i am wiring the motor directly without the mfswitch. i am powering it in low using red and blue/pink wire. with the wiper arm set up i have, the wiper works too fast even using the blue/pink wire. i am thinking of using a variable resistor or some ind wire wound resistors to slow down the motor. does anyone know the current draw or the nominal restance of the operating motor? i'm thinking of using a fan control switch to slow it down and get a couple of speeds, but i may need an additional in line resistor. thanks for reading this, have a happy 4th, dick r

This is not the best way. Look! Ranger motor works fast on low speed. It is designed for intermediate mode when wipers appeare on windshied for less then a second and dissapeare for 10-60 sec. Better look for int. mode wiper relay on JYs. Not expencive... Better look for old Aero's relay with variable delay.
