Hi Everyone...
I hang out mostly on the '48-60 forum, but since my interests are as strong or stronger in shop and tool related matters I have been wanting to get in with you folks over here. I retired as an IBEW electrician about a year and a half ago and every since that time I have been engaged in a full court press to get my garage and shop equiped and set up the way I want it. (That will probably be a never ending quest.)
In the past year I have added two lathes,(one I am rebuilding), a Bridgeport mill, a blasting cabinet and two new welders, (Lincoln MIG 255 and a TIG 225, click on these to see the PDFs). I have also added a number of minor items. I was pretty well equipped before but this last year has added a signifigant amount of tools and equipment. If things go my way I will probably be adding a 30' X 40 building mainly for vehicle and material storage in the coming year.
I am also trying to expand my sheet metal working capabilities. I have a big 1,500 lb set of pinch rollers I bought for scrap value that I am motorizing. I am also looking for a box break and a sheer. If I can't find something used of a reasonable shape and size I will probably be forced to go the HF route. I am considering building my own English Wheel and planishing hammer. So long as I can do 16 GA sheet metal I will be satisfied. If anyone out there knows of any stuff like I'm looking for that I can get at a good price on, I am interested.
My main up-coming project is my '53 F-100. I do a number of other things like repair and restore engine driven welding machines, fabrication work and making parts for stuff on my mill and lathes. You can CLICK HERE and see what I'm into. It's a personal page I have set up with links to my other pages. When I'm not in the shop I'm out moving Classic and custom cars around the country. It takes the heavy expense of fuel costs out fo moving some of the stuff I buy and sell.
I'm looking forward to discussing equipment and tools and their use with others here that have similar interests.
Later Folks...
I have both bought and sold on Craig's list, as a matter of fact, that's where my '53 F-100 came from. I just haven't had the time to look or the appropriations to spend on it. The two welders and a plasma cutter I just bought have pretty well cleaned me out for a while.
Later Man...
