I got a free super chips programmer

A buddy of mine gave me his super chips programmer. I know it's not even in the same ball park with DP Tuner. So far I have only used it to scan codes. My question is, Can I go ahead and run this programmer AND be safe with my truck as is? I am hoping to get a 6.0 trans cooler, 4" exhaust, gauges, and a bts valve body all before April. So hopefully I can get Jody to work his magic at smokin'. I've had this programmer under my seat for a couple of weeks now, just waiting to get some supporting mods done. The suspense is killing me, so I figured I would ask the pros.
Thanks

you'll be ok... just don't run it on the highest setting and keep your foot to the floor for a long period of time. Your EGT's can get up there...

Run it! Like 4inch said, just don't stay in it long in the high setting, and definately don't tow.

I had the old 60/80hp SCMT for a couple of years with no problems. The newer one, with the 3 settings, is supposed to run lower EGTs. I ran the tow setting most of the time. This was even before gauges and exhaust mods. No problems. Like said, just don't "keep your foot in it" for very long and you'll be OK.

I ran the superchips 1705 for a couple of years and I will tell you that towing, you can push the EGT's pretty high if you stand on it for long. Use the 60 hp if towing much weight at all. Leave the top setting alone as I never saw anything other that extra high EGT's in that setting, no power gains at all over the 90hp. The SC tuner is worth every penny you paid for it, not much more. It does come in handy as a code reader, but once you go DP, you will know what a real chip is.

I ran the 3 tuner superchip for 4 years, with only the muffler delete. I didn't mod my truck till I found FTE. I pulled heavy loads with it, but I changed tunes for what I was doing. Put it in and enjoy the extra power.

if you dont get into it to much, you will get better mileage for road trips. I have a diablo for that same reason. then of course till I get DP it will never be the same so I heard.

Same here, ran my SC for about 4 years now before i knew about FTE. Run it, its different than stock, trans will tighten up the shifts, more throttle response but as these guys and gals say, its no DP. Wished i would have known

And then there's that annoying 45mph shift into OD. I still use the SC 1705 as I'm waiting for a few more mods to get the DP chip. I have mine set on the highest HP now for the first time in over a year. When others tell you don't stand on it for long, it is just seconds till my boost and EGTs are higher than they should be. So, play in the mid setting and get guages as soon as you can

That's where I had Jody set mine to shift at. I like my economy. I can defeat it with the OD cancel button. My truck can putter/loaf along at 45 in OD all day long, lugging if you want to call it that but egts never are an issue now with my setup.

1705

I have the 1705 superchips. I installed the Tow Safe program in my 97. Put about 50000 on it without a problem.

I am going to install it in my 2002 just as soon as I have enough baseline data on fuel consumption. Right now I am getting 15 to 22 depending on conditions. I am hoping for a mileage increase when I installed it. I am an old lady driving type.
