check the fuse box under the hood, there may be a fuse in there that is blown, if I remember correctly a short in the fuel heater on the fuel filter can cause that
edit: where are my manners.....Welcom to FTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
check fuel bowl fuse #30 under driver side dash. and before you replace it unplug fuel heater , the plug beside the fuel drain valve, the yellow handle on the back of the fuel heater housing,
I think that the chip problem is unlikely, but possible, it is also not unheard of for the CPS to fail, they have been rumored to sometimes be bad out of the box, but the no wait to start still leads me to the fuel heater fuse,
well yeas it could have, unplug it and run it stock, but if you dont get the WTS light it sounds like fuel heater. this is most common problem on this trucks...
man that is no fun, hopefully there is somebody in your neck of the woods with a flatbed trailer, keep your eye on the post, if there is somebody close they will help you out, to bad you are not in the western KY I would be enroute.
Welcome to FTE. I don't remember what year they changed the fuse number (it's not this way on my 02), but look for a fuse labeled fuse bowl heater or IDM. It was #30 on some trucks older than mine. As Bryan & Pete mentioned, the no WTS light is usually a sign of a blown fuel bowl heater. Replace the fuse, UNPLUG the heater, then start it up.
Also, as stated above, the aftermarket CPS units have been known to be bad out of the box. Where did you get your CPS from? If it's not a Ford part, you may need a new one. Does your tach move when you crank the engine? No tach is a sign of a bad CPS.
Chris, he has 2001, if its the same as mine, if the cps is ok, the tach should move while you crank, the oil press should go up before it fires up, and its a fude #30 on 01 trucks.
