Anyone know if my 01 super crew's fuel pump would be in this same location? The bed is shorter, but I'm thinking yes.
Since it's the middle of winter in central Ohio and my truck is stuck in the driveway, I need the fastest, easiest method to replace my pump. Nice post and pic's cranchero.
Bump...I could really use some feedback on the question
I've never done a Super Crew. The FORD manual says to drop the tank and it doesn't differentiate between cab styles. I knew the bed would be easily removed on mine because I had replaced it several months ago. I don't know if the pump on a S.Crew tank is under the rear of the cab or not. I'm going to the salvage yard in a few minutes and if they have one I'll check it out.
I just ran outside and looked. Based on the pic's from ranchero, it looks to me like this would apply for the Screws too. I can see the vent and feel where the line comes out of the tank. If it were me, I'd be willing to give it a shot. I just can't actually see the sending unit/pump plate behind the frame rail.
The salvage yard did not have a F150 SCrew but did have a 2000 style F250 SCrew Super Duty with no bed. On it the pump is accessible with the bed off. The guys at the salvage yard all agreed it's possible on the F150 too. That's the best I can do for the moment. I'll get a photo of this one sooner or later. Being in central Ohio getting bed bolts loose would worry me ........ but so would the tank strap bolts. Thanks mjunk1 for checking yours out.
BTW, it's only 45 degrees here today but yesterday I washed the truck in a tee shirt............................sorry, I couldn't help myself!
Fantastic information and very nice of you to look into this like you did. Right now, I need the easiest and cheapest solution but I do plan to buy OEM fuel pump. I've heard it's worth the extra coin.
It's always had a bed liner and I've always had either a hard top lid or tanoe cover. It's also been garaged for all but the last year. Hoping that all makes a difference. I'll be posting a follow up on my progress. Thanks for all this help. I'll be working on this in the next 2 weeks.
The fuel pump is located under the cab and not under the bed. I'm discouraged that I had a plan and now I have no choice but to drop the tank. (full with 20 gallons of fuel to siphon out)
