Thoughts are with those lost and their families, the survivors and their families, and to you.

Please let us know about their progress and how you are doing.

WOW. I just caught this thread.

Sorry to hear about the accident.

My thoughts go out to the crew and family members and friends.

Everything will be OK.

Seems like there have been a rash of helicopter crashes lately.

It happens Dutch. We lost 5 at once "over there" 5 in a "v" take-off formation. Lead chopper lost a tranny bearing on the main rotor hub, and fell backwards into the other 4. RIP brothers.........

DANG...

Okay, how can we do something to prevent that?

Most NOTAM's (NOtice To AirMan) are written in blood. I hate that, but there it is.

Is there a way to detect a bad bearing?

How many hours did it have on it?

You don't know how many times I've asked those questions. Everything was a-ok. Low hours. No write-ups. Sometimes s@#$ happens.............That was a hard one for me. I was on the flight line, and my best friend died in my arms. Luckily they were "slicks" and only had crew on them. They were on there way to an extraction at a "hot" LZ. We did have 4 survive tho.

On that crash involving the two helicopters, I heard one helicopter was taking off,
and the other one was landing.

I don't know if that was just speculation on what happened.

Like RDJ184 posted, "sounds like a little air traffic control is needed...."

Either way, it's a tragic loss.
