OK...so I'm feeling kinda stupid right now, and either need to know if I'm missing something or if someone else had the same problem in order to make me feel better about myself, lol. I just bought my truck about a month ago. First diesel ever...and I'm very pleased with it. When i boutght it I found I had an oil and tranny leak. So, on a saturday I did what alot of people do, set aside the day to take care of it. I went to remove the drain plug from the trans and it just spun. So, I knew something was stripped out and bought a new pan. OK, after the pan came in I punched a hole in the bottom of the old pan so it could drain. After it drained I pulled the pan and gasket and changed the filter. I let it sit for a few days so any drips could get themselves out. I got the new pan out, put a liberal amount of Ultra Black around it, put the gasket on top and then put another liberal amount of Ultra Black. I let it sit for about 30 minutes so it could tack-up. I got under the truck, put the pan in, and then let it sit over-night. The next day filled it up and went driving around. IT STILL LEAKS! I've built old muscle cars before and engines without a problem. I've never had this issue. I've never had a leak that wouldn't go away even after re-torquing the bolts. Any thoughts, suggestions or comments??? OH, and i love this site. It's the best thing especially for newbies! Thanks again!

 

welcome to FTE and congrats on the new truck...the gasket for the Trans is a re usable gasket..the ultra black may be what's causing you to still have this leak....if your looking for things to do..click on the mod and fixes link in my sig....good luck...
