I have been trying to decode the vin for my 1983 f150 v8 4-sp manual I just bought..and the vin decoders are saying not a valid vin#....I have checked the sticker on the door and all paper work from dealership and this is the

I am trying to find out which engine it has...302 0r 351... it is pretty fast ..it looks stock but I noticed a holley intake and 4bbl carb.dual exhaust...and it idles a little rough...maybe a tune up...small cam?? anyway to tell ?..
dealership says 60,000 miles but I would think odometer has spun over...but the engine is tight..no smoke or leaks..lots of power...interior looks brand new.. ...also ..it is at about 2900 rpm @ 65 mph in 4th .. is that normal..235/75/15 tires seemed a little high

yeah..I assume it has spun over...but when I did the car fax report I noticed it had tabs renewed in 1985 and not again until 1996... then pretty much every year after that....dealer had it originally for $3200... sat for awhile ..and because not many people are buying gas hogs ..I made them an offer and I only spent $1200 on it including all taxes/tabs etc... has new ac pump..power steering pump/hoses...doesn't seem to leak any fluids..seems to run great...lots of power way more than I expected.....I think it must of been used for towing...has trailer mirrors/wire plug...hitch...and the rear end is a 3.55
