vin # not working for some reason....????

I have been trying to decode the vin for my 1983 f150 v8 4-sp manual I just bought..and the vin decoders are saying not a valid vin#....I have checked the sticker on the door and all paper work from dealership and this is the
vin# 2FTDF15GCA99418
I am trying to find out which engine it has...302 0r 351... it is pretty fast ..it looks stock but I noticed a holley intake and 4bbl carb.dual exhaust...and it idles a little rough...maybe a tune up...small cam?? anyway to tell ?..
dealership says 60,000 miles but I would think odometer has spun over...but the engine is tight..no smoke or leaks..lots of power...interior looks brand new.. ...also ..it is at about 2900 rpm @ 65 mph in 4th .. is that normal..235/75/15 tires seemed a little high

I'd say that's the stock tire size from the factory, and the rpm's is normal for a tranny without overdrive.

When you type 8 & capital D together, you get that smilie face.

2FTDF15G8DCA99418

2FT = Ford Motor Company of Canada, Ltd.

D = Hydraulic Brakes / Class D: 5,001 thru 6,000 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating

F15 = F150 2WD

G = 351W 2V

8 = FoMoCo internal use only

D = 1983

C = Ontario Canada Assembly Plant

A99418 = Numerical Sequence of Assembly

VIN decode source: 1980/89 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog.

Quite alot of aftermarket stuff on that truck.

Although 60,000 isn't unreasonable for an 80's truck that was only used on the weekends etc... I'd be a little cautious if you know what I mean.

yeah..I assume it has spun over...but when I did the car fax report I noticed it had tabs renewed in 1985 and not again until 1996... then pretty much every year after that....dealer had it originally for $3200... sat for awhile ..and because not many people are buying gas hogs ..I made them an offer and I only spent $1200 on it including all taxes/tabs etc... has new ac pump..power steering pump/hoses...doesn't seem to leak any fluids..seems to run great...lots of power way more than I expected.....I think it must of been used for towing...has trailer mirrors/wire plug...hitch...and the rear end is a 3.55
