Just be sure to take care. I rode for ~6 years in the 80's, a late-70's Yamaha. Eventually had enough close calls to hang it up. Just this past weekend I was in a long slow up on the highway and arrived at the cause of it to find a guy on his knees beside his dumped bike screaming for his wife to please wake up .... could have been me on several occasions.

I've been riding off and on for over 40 years. I usually keep 2 in my garage. I have several friends who have Harleys but two friends and I have BMW. Many of us on BMWs like to ride a long way . My good friend is half way through a 7,000 mile trip on his 2007 BMW R1200RT.

Ive been riding my goldwing for years now and have had a few close calls, but my worst fear is the same as Fred's story. Because of that Ive almost quite riding, but the wife loves it and she is not afraid. I try to be careful to stay off the freeway's with her tho.

I used to ride some, but also gave it up because of close calls. I have a friend with a Goldwing that loves to ride though, but his worst fear are the deers in rut. Has had one wreck because of them, but not on the wing.

A long time ago for me. I had one Harley chopper, a 61 inch knucklehead springer and all the rest were English .... 2 Triumph Bonnevilles, a 650 BSA Road Rocket and a 500cc BSA Gold Star single (my favorite).

I am a current rider, Have a 1980 GS1100EX Suzuki, 1981 KZ1300 A2 Kawasaki, 1997 Harley Ultra Classic, and a 2005 Softail Deluxe. Great times on a bike. My biker friends and I go on a 3000- 3500 mile vacation every year. I have been riding from 1970. Two ways I ride, Defensive or Aggressive, depending on the situation and the crazies around me. I watch everything around me and only had to dump my ride one time in 38 years. DO my own work on all bikes cause I don't trust anyone else. I only got two wheelsunder me if you know what I mean. Keep the rubber on the road and all will be well.

I have been riding on/off road for years but because of problems with my hands had to give it up for the last few years (trying to get them better so I can ride again) I like riding off road more then on road but my body doesn't lol, my last street bike was a 79 kawasaki KZ1000 set up for the track (drag) and I returned it to the street.I still have a bunch of old dirt bikes waiting for me to get better and I am working on a 1980 honda xl250 to return to the street, here is a small list of bikes I refuse to get rid of that I have owned since I was a kid.
1974 honda CR 125M Elsinore.
1977 Kawasaki KD125 built with all 1974 KX125 parts my own built KDX
1979 Honda XR250 built up with every hop up part I can find (and still looking)
I have had over 400 motorcycles in my life and these are the ones I would never get rid of and have had a ton that I wished I never did.

I've survived 40+ years riding my motorcycles because I ride paranoid. I assume nobody sees me, that every car approaching me is going to turn in front of me and every car at stop signs or side roads is going to pull out in front of me. I try to have an escape route for any situation where I can minimize the damage if something does happen. After I had ridden about 20-25 years, I took a MSF rider education course and found I had a lot to learn. Best weekend I ever spent with my bike.

One of my greatest fears is deer (and 2nd. is gravel). A good friend's son was killed when a deer jumped into the side of him at night and the crash caused his helmetless head to strike a rock. The deer hoof hit him in the back and punctured his lung.

I agree. I can remember laying on a gurney at the hospital while they picked gravel out of my back with tweezers.

Some of you guys are much braver then me. The only time I ever rode a real bike on the street was when I reluctantly rode a 80s soft tail Harley that a buddy of mine bought about 4 years ago. He bought it at an auction a few miles from my house so I picked it up for him. Good lord that was the scariest fricken thing I've ever done, It was only a 6 mile ride but I saw my life flash before my eyes my times then I'd ever care to see, getting on a street bike is like having a target on your back, everyone wants to kill you for some reason.

I've got a '73? CT-70 Honda minibike, and thats good enough for me. I bought it when I was 13, I've flown over the handle bars more times then I care to share. Its beat to hell, barley runs, the seat is nothing but duct tape, and the frame has been welded back together but its still a fun little bike. I take it through the woods behind my house. It's a straight shot about 2 miles to the liquor store.

I like riding early sunday mornings, when all the drunks are asleep and everyone else is at church. There are alot of deer and brainless drivers around here too, otherwise I'd be on it much more often. If gas keeps going up , I might have to take my chances.
