3 on the column

I have a 300 and a 3 speed on the column in my truck. I run down the highway (cruising speed) at 60. I don't have a tach in my truck so I don't know what kind of RPMs that I'm going at. I just shift when the motor is ready to go. when I'm gonna drive down a highway or county road here's where I shift. 1st gear 0-20. 2nd gear 20-35.....sometimes I shift at 30 or all the way to 40. then of course 3rd gear gets me all the way up to 60. for those of y'all that have 3 speeds do these mphs sound about where I need to be?

even if you don't have it on the column anymore it will still help.

I shift a little sooner than that with my 302, but not much sooner. I have 2.75 gears. What gear ratio do you have?

You are within the owners manual recommendations.

Upshifting:

First to second: Part Throttle, 15mph Full Throttle 30mph.

Second to third: Part throttle 25mph,
Full throttle 40mph.

Downshifting, maximum speed:

Third to Second: 40mph
Second to first: 20mph

I'm not exactly sure what gears that I have, but I'm sure that it is either 2.75:1 or 3.00:1.

well that's about where I shift whether I'm going up or down (the recommendations).

I shift around the same mph that are posted here, give or take a few given my speedo doesn't work. I guess maybe around 2500rpms or so usually. 3500rpms if I'm really on the gas pedal any more then that and I'd get even worse gas mileage.

well 1st to 2nd is the same, but sometimes 2nd to 3rd I shift at 30 so I can hear that motor work through that Flowmaster.

and 45 is what I do on the county roads, but they're paved so that helps.
