I agree. Shoot for sticker on the truck. I'm pretty sure they did not pay $9k for the box, so sticker would be a good offer. The truck is almost two model-years old. If they don't think that's good enough, see if they want to keep it another year.
What happens on old leftovers that no one buys. Does Ford give the dealer incentive to sell them cheap, or does the dealer just get stuck with it and try to sell it at their cost (or below)? Is there any way to find out the dealer cost of the utility box?
You are right. It is almost two model years old...
The truck has never been titled, supposedly just transported from lot to lot and test drives. Why would Ford care?
I would think they would deal MORE on it since it has been driven some, but it seems that these dealers don't care one way or another if they sell it or not.

At some point in time Ford credits the dealer an amount which approximates the last rebates and there are no longer any rebates. Dealers generally will lower their inventory cost by a like amount in order to try to move the unit.
You can find out the approximate cost of a utility box by calling a company that installs like bodies and asking them for a quote. Your quote is probably higher than the dealer would pay...so make an adjustment.
Remember...dealers aren't in love with these units...they want to move them. They just would like to preserve some of their body parts when the do so.
