front axle id

Need to replace the ball joints on my kids 91 explorer and they list them for a dana 35 or 28 . Any easy way to tell them apart? I guss I am old school as my 77 f250 is 44hd and dana 60 and not real sure about the new style axles. Thanks

Where did you get the Dana 28 information?

4.0 engines came with Dana 35s in the front and 8.8s in the rear. This is especially true with the first generation Explorer like yours.
