O/D Switch
Having a problem with the O/D switch flashing intermittently especially after braking. This causing the transmission to downshift especially when braking after the light has already been flashing. Any ideas?//

Welcome to FTE kbaker66! 
The light may be flashing a code. Whatever it is doing, indicates some trouble with the transmission and it should be checked out soon. The dealer or a well equipped and reputable transmission shop came do that for you. Good luck!

The OD light does not flash any codes.
It either flashes regularly or randomly.
If it filcker randomly, the wring harness to the switch is probably chafing.
If it flashes at a regular rate, that is you indication the the computer has identified a transmission-related fault and is warning you to get the codes read as part of the diagnostic.

Well i just went through this on my 97. I took it in to have it checked because it only flashed sometimes. Ended up with a new trans and still no fix. Took it in 3 more times to find out the TSS was out all 3 times causing hard shifting but no o/d light. Finally got the trans shop to send it to the dealer and they ran their machine which sent them straight into the t-case. Opened it up and, someone help me here, there was a wheel stripped in there or something which was making the tss short out which in turn caused hard shifting and in the long run ruined my trans. I would bite the cost and have a dealer diagnose it...here i am 3k later before i got fixed by going to a independent trans place.
