Early 7.3L swap to a late 7.3L truck?

I just found a 1995 7.3L diesel with 190 000 on the motor and drivetrain for $500. The add says it needs work, and if its the truck i am thinkin of, the body is pretty much rusted right out. I am thinkin that if the motor is decent it is a steal.

Heres my question. Is it doable to put a 95 PSD into my 2000 PSD, or is it a complete pain? Thanks.

For 500$ i wouldnt leave it, but unless your good friends with a mechanic you wont be swapping engines anytime soon....

Is there a reason why you want to do this swap?

That is a great deal. The swap should be not too bad. The '95 has single shot injectors though so you will need your old injectors or get new programming to run the singles. The OBS has a different turbo than yours also. I believe it is large so egt's are lower. The IDM on the OBS is 100v and yours is 120v. Of course OBS is not intercooled. The OBS, if stock, has a 15* HPOP and you will probably need to use your 17* pump for the split shots or large single shot injectors. There are a few differences but the main body of the motor is the same so I would get it even if it sat in the back yard for parts.

Do you know what they mean when they say "needs work"?

Im not sure what they mean by needs work. I am thinking more than likely body work, but who knows. I left the gent a message, and i will try again today to find out. But for there only being 190 000 on the motor, if its decent, why not?

All i am thinkin is if its not too hard to do a swap, when the time comes to do the motor in my truck (she was 400 000 km on her) just swap them, instead of doin a rebuild or buyin a new 7.3L. Just a thought. BUt still, $500, if its got rims and tires the rims are probably worth $500. Worht lookin at. Let ya kno what i find out. Thanks guys.
