I have a 1989 ford sc 4x4 5spd pickup. I have a sony head unit and stock door speakers. I want this thing to bump. my question where can i install a sub(s), do i need to get a bronco buckets with the center console and delete the concole and put a custom box there.... or some other idea. I only have factory front door speakers, is there anyway that i can add rear speakers like in the later model f-series, changing rear plastics, boxes that fix between the cab and rear fold down seat? any and all ideas welcome. ive had many a good conversation with freinds with no real ideas. thanks ahead of time!

If you don't have any ideas you could always go to a Stereo installation shop and ask them what they would suggest you do to your truck. Now they will probably throw out a lot of expensive ideas, but they might clue you in on something you could do. Also, if you find some subs that run in a small sealed enclosure, you could have separate boxes made and install them behind each seat. There are a lot of 10" subs that run in less that 1 cubic ft of air, making for smaller boxes.

I have an '86 150 and i wanted to cram some serious sound in the cab. Like you i dont have an extended cab to supply the room so here is what I did. I got a duel 10" sub box that has about .95 cubes of feet for each. You need to measure the distance between your doors and get a box that will give you about 7 to 8 inches on each side. Then what i did is made some small boxes that housed 6.5" 3 ways that fired stright up and mounted em on the side of the sub box. THIS IS THE MEAT AND POTATOES OF MY SYSTEM! This makes it soo loud! you have to play with it some but i didnt have to move my seat up any for the boxs to fit! Its tight but it workes! If you are ever in Dallas i will let ya hear it! WOW! hoped i helped....

Hi, I have a 86 super cab and mounted 6x9s in the back right above the seat they go in with minor trimming and sound great I don't know why ford put a fader in the truck with just door speakers in a super cab but I used a good set of kenwood speakers in doors and back and it sounds great also have kenwood head and cd changer I used the speaker grilles out of an aerostar look just like the ones in the doors and can be found in the same color as your interior. I found that putting a couple of tubes in the back give you plenty of lows. you can make them yourself with pvc, a little particle board and silicon sealent. For the electronics all you'll need is some 8" thumpers, speaker wire and those spring clips to attach the wires from the tube to the amp. the longer the tube the bigger the sound. I mounted the amp to the back wall of the cab. what's nice about the tubes is you can take them out when you need the extra space.
Let me know if you want a better discription of how to build the tubes. -MikeD
Not that i like the tube idea for my truck..but i would love to see how it is put together. I do have one smaller truck that is would be perfect for....let me know....Mudinford(No Email Addresses In Posts!)
