I'm planning to order a pioneer deck and some pioneer 3-way speakers shortly, my question is kinda stupid but can a speaker be "under-powered"? What I mean by that is the deck I plan to buy has a max rateing at 50 watts, the speakers I'm looking at say "max 180 watts, nominal 50 watts". To be more specific, I'm planning for TS-A6865 speakers to repalce my rears, and TS-A1665 speakers for the front, with a DEH-P3300. Everything is Pioneer, another question: what arethe chances that if I get a sony mini-disc changer it will be compatible with my Pioneer deck? I know crutchfield says the deck is changer compatiable.
The 6X9's will work fine off your deck. They will sound 100% better than stock. The higher power ratings would only come into effect if you wanted to put an amplifier behind the 6X9's. I can't imagine how a sony MD Changer would plug into a Pioneer deck. I installed a new Premier DEH-720 in my truck, and it has an auxillary input in the back of the deck. If you get a Pioneer deck that is similar, maybe you could take advantage of that.
Crutchfield said the deck has an auxilliray input, but I'm wondering if you think that that aux. input should only be compatiable with Pioneer or all brands?
Logan, I would assume that the aux input will take any brand that you can patch into the input. However, I don't think you would be able to use this for the Sony CD changer, because the Pioneer head unit would not be able to control the Changer. The Aux. input would be used for something like a personal MP3 player that has its own controls.
