Diesel Excursion

I posted earlier about a V10 Excursion. Now I have the chance to get an 04 Diesel Excursion for $10100 with 48K.
What should I do????????????????????
I do some towing with an open car trailer. But I'm done with towing this year.

Spoke to soon. Forgot it was an E-Bay auction. But they are both from the same dealer. And the way I figure it(I know the GM)if hes willig to deal on the V10 then hes willing to deal on the Diesel.
I always wanted a diesel as it would be my last truck I buy.Ive had my 97 Expedition for 10 years

You need to run the numbers on both.

Cost to purchase
Cost to run (fuel)
Cost to maintain (oil changes, etc.)

See which one come out ahead.

But in the end, it's the one YOU want/like that matters.

the 04 would be a 6.0L. The 04 6 liter's had a bad rep for problems.... but I know of one with about 100k miles on it in a F350 crew cab 4 x 4 with no major issues. That truck gets 17 mpg on the road with 4.10's... excursion should top 20 easy if its 3.73's. ask about 04 6.0's....

My feeling of the 04's is that about 10% of them had problems out of the gate and that 1% or 2% of them were unfixable (buybacks). But of people that put significant miles on them, they were happy. Considering these were $50k vehicles new, $10k for an engine that's barely broken in seems like a deal.

I could not agree with you more, My 04 6.0 has run like a Champ from day one and the only major problem was the EGR valve!! So if he is willing to lower it a tad I would say GO FOR IT!!!

Sounds like a great price. I'd snap it up, assuming it has a good Oasis.

your residual value on the diesel Ex's are better than the gassers if you decide to sell it.

Definitely run an Oasis and Carfax report on it. If it's not one with a problem engine, then that's a really good price. You'll not regret getting a diesel.

For 10K, make sure it's not a salvage title.

Salvage title gets a bad rep sometimes...The biggest thing it really hurts is the resale value. If it was properly repaired you won't notice a functional difference in the vehicle. I have driven hundreds of thousands of miles in salvage title vehicles. Some I rebuilt myself, some I bought after repaired. I just bought a 2002 Excursion limited, 7.3L 4 x 4 with 107k miles... for $10k...and I figure I'll never sell it. Argue what you want.... salvage title vehicles can be a screamin deal if you want a driver.

Wanted to add, not all salvage titles are wrecks, some are theft recovery's that were partially stripped.
