Let the bashing begin. Yes, I am the one who said the V-10 is the engine of choice for the smarter Superduty buyer. Yes, I love my V-10 engine for it's all around abilities and capability. I even love to fill it up with unleaded vs. diesel and save roughly .70 a gallon, almost makes 13 to 14 MPG livable. And yes, I am keeping my 2006 F-250 V-10, it ain't going away, only going to get used a little more, and more like a truck. But, after a lot of discussion between the wife and I, we decided to purchase a new tow vehicle for hauling the RV and some ranch hauling duties. She wanted something a little nicer, cleaner, and non-ranch looking while roaming the county side with grand-kids in tow as well as the trailer. This will be the replacement for my F-450 Lariat that is currently doing the work. And yes, it is a 6.4 PSD. But the price was right, so give me a break. If you care to take a look at it the link goes to an Ebay auction where it was listed earlier. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280233513542&ssPageNam e=ADME:X:RTQ:MOTORS:1123 Go ahead and bash away! And yes, I plan to wear my Triton V-10 cap while drving the new truck. After all the V-10 is still the engine of choice and Ford's Best Kept Secret.
Thanks for the kind words of bashing O_W_E. I was kind of figuring that for the price maybe I couldn't go wrong by replacing my current 6.0 PSD. The new truck comes with a new warranty. And when I go to sell my current PSD, it still has 12 months of powertrain warranty remaning for the new owner. Figure that the warranty could help make a nice selling point, plus the truck only has around 53,000 miles on it.
I assume it being a F450 it will be worked hard. If you we getiing the 6.4 to tow a couple of Jet skies (I have seen it posted) and claim that the old v10 could not get the job done then I would be all over you!
Won't get bashed from me. Its a super nice truck. Its a smart move in my book to buy a diesel now rather than in 2010 when the EPA really clamps down on diesels and another unproven powerstroke diesel enters fords lineup. The price you paid is extremely good in my book. Enjoy.
UaVaj,
In todays economy, the economical winner is staying at home or a very comfortable pair of shoes or boots.
The V-10 is the truck engine of choice for most everyday needs and hauling conditions. I love driving my V-10, and being one of the few that know about "Ford's Best Kept Secret"
The F-550 PSD is my choice for tugging my 20,000# Travel Supreme 5th wheel around...
plus I thunk it are pretty, and the spouse said I wanted it....LOL
As for filling up that 110 gallon tank with diesel, well my current F-450 holds a total of 120 gallons. The only part that kind of really sucks is, that most pumps stop pumping gas/fuel between $75 to $100 dollars at a time. This only allows for 16 to 22 gallons of diesel per credit card swipe. And swipe after swipe of the card does get old after awhile.

Stop pre-paying. I have found if I pre-pay the pumps shut off anywhere from $63 to $75 (depending on the station). If I chose to "pay inside", I can fill it up in one swoop without having to keep swiping my card every 10 minutes (I just need to remember to go inside to pay). Hope that helps.

The stations by you guys are behind the times. The pump used to shut off at $50, then $75, then $100. For now I can fill up ($130) without it shutting off. For now being the key phrase.
When I vacation up in SE Canada the pumps don't even have credit card slots and the pumps look straight out of 1982. So if it has a card slot and a keypad I'm a happy camper.
