new fuel causes leaks?

Hi all. Some really old guy here....I have a leakage problem.
I am referring to fuel, not body fluids. Both the 1986 6.9 diesels I have had developed serious engine fuel leaks shortly after using the new low sulfur fuels.
Is this a coincidence? any help greatly appreciated craig-z

Anything is possible. I haven't noticed any more leaks show up that I can say is because of the fuel.

thanks ....its just that I have noticed that the rubber fuel parts seem to be dissolving or breaking down as there is a lot of black material that comes off from inside the fuel return hoses and off the old o rings when you wipe em with a rag. Donno craig-z

Biodiesel will cause that.

The new Ultra low sulfur fuels might degrade old fuel lines and "O"rings. Biodiesel will also do the same. If you haven't changed the fuel return lines and O rings in the last 10 years then you have parts designed for the high sulfur fuels.

yes leakage has been an issue since the changeover , the new fuel can migrate where the old wouldnt
also the new fuel doesnt have the lubricity that high sulfur did

thought I wuz losin my mind....

I have suspected such a thing for a long time.....i had a heckuva time with the old gas powered vehicles that run on leaded and the unleaded dissolved/dried out all the rubber fuel lines, etc. GRRR, (again)....I especially loved changing the now rotted hoses on top of the gas tanks and now THIS.....ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
What other leakorama can I look forward to? craig-z
