Looking at buying a SD
I've never owned a diesel. I know I want to go with Ford, and I think I found one I just want some expert opinions.

The only thing I don't like is the automatic transmission.
Is that too high mileage for these trucks(over 200k)?

Welcome to FTE! Best place to learn about Ford Trucks and meet some good people.
The truck your looking at is definitely priced right. I didn't see in the brief right up that it was a diesel. However, if it is a diesel, it has the 7.3 which is the best diesel Ford has made. I would get an Oasis report and a Carfax to start with. If those don't show anything serious, I would feel pretty good about spending the $5000.
Is it local or will you be buying off of Ebay without seeing it first. If you can drive it,
get someone to go with you that is familiar with the 7.3 engine annd let him go over it.

madjak, your statement should read diesel Ford used, not made. Price is right on that truck but just know that even if the motor is still good for a little while, the rest of the truck will be getting tired and need more regular maintenance.

How do you know it's a diesel? I don't see in the ad where it says anything about the engine and the fender badge looks to me like a 5.4L V8 gas. The price better reflects gas engine too. A diesel would be twice as much.
FYI, I have for sale a very hard to find 6-speed manual 2000 F250 7.3L Powerstroke turbo diesel. The Auto Trader sale ad is below.
