Question Need help Guy with Project

Hi guys new hear gotta new project im building so all imput needed ive got an 85' F-150 with (71') 460v-8 w/ dove heads.. Headers, dual exhaust and edelbrock performer rpm intake , comp cams 275 dual energy cam advertised duration 275/285) duration@050 (219/232) 515/541 lift750 edelbrock carb & c-6 trans w/ stage 2 Kit with 3.55 gears 8.8its a screamer but time to do some engine work i sold it and bought it back 6 yrs later. im hearing mixed info on adapting the 88-up intake to the carb heads .ive looked at poth ports and the efi ports are smaller and carved out for the injectors but ..to things here i just got in contact with a dude that has some DOOE-R Heads (429 SCJ Heads) i definantly want a fuel injected 460 but just dont see the e7te heads to perform as well as the dove's or dooe-r's so i want to freshen up my current engine then install the dooe-r heads and install the efi set up atop of it ..that way i can keep my headers and have good flowing heads ..i know the intake will be somewhat restricting the flow butim kool wit it i will get the bigger throttle body and plan to go i step up on injectors from the 24lb blue tops to the 30lb red tops ..my 2nd issue is that i just bought an E4OD ..now the truck that i got it out of is a 96 ford E250 Van so i know that i will need the wiring harness and the PCM also the elecric fuel pump and wiring .. but an idiot cut part of the harness it seems .now i know where their is and 89-91 ford f-350 box truck with efi 460 i could use that harness i guess but i dont know if its different from the 96 harness ....wit the cam that i have it has a 110 lobs seperation now i know that if i had mass air it would compensate for the way the engine breaths butis their away to adapt mass air n2 the speed density set up on the efi 460, and from their i want the engione to run as strong or stronger fuel injected thnwit the carb set up..

I hope you are not thinking about putting factory fuel injection on this project with Hi-perf parts. Check out Mass Flow EFI for the plug & play fuel injection though. I dont know if they have alot for 460s but they possibly could. The EFI factory setup will not bolt up to the carbureted heads if you are wondering.

You need to run EFI heads with the EFI intake. They will not interchange with the carb stuff. With the factory speed density EFI computer you can only run a small cam.

how much vacuum does it have to have with speed density to idle .. i figured the computer wiould be fine wit the cam as long as the lobe seperation was 112-114

My cam is a factory Cobra Jet cam 290 adv duration and .516 lift on the intake and exhaust. I believe the lobe seperation is 114. This is the largest cam I would want to run with the speed density setup. Some of the cam companys have cams specifically cut for the EFI/Speed Density setup. They are worth looking into if you are interested in a little more power than the smallish rv type cam provides. Your rpm range will dictate this. You don't need much cam with all that torque.

Actually my cam is a 1970 Factory Ford cam. It has a noticeable idle when it is cold. When it warms up it mellows out and is almost unnoticed. I would suggest these cams.
Crane Cams 353941 - Crane PowerMax Camshafts - summitracing.com
COMP Cams 34-238-4 - COMP Cams Xtreme Energy Camshafts - summitracing.com
Summit SUM-3501 - Summit Camshafts - summitracing.com
Here are just a few to choose from. The Summit brand cam is a great choice for the price. I have ran their brand before and had no issues. Let me know if you have and suggestions on cams. I'll be glad to give you my opinion.
