I bought my Supercrew about 2 months ago and have had a problem with the suspension since daye one. The truck rides vey sloppy and seems to "wobble" when hitting bumps, etc. It also seems to bounce excessively in the front when going over bumps. I have had it back to the dealer twice and both times they said they couldn't find a problem. I have owned a few Chevy's over the last 10 years and have never had this problem. Any suggestions??? Some people have said check the steering damper and maybe substandard shocks were installed. I would really love to keep it but if i can't find the problem i think i may trade it in.
I don't have the bounce problem, but can relate to the "wobble"
I have talked to a few people about the problem and the only thing we really have in common is the tire. I am running the stock 255-70-16 General Graber AW.
My two previous F150s had Goodyears and I had no problems.
I hope this helps.
I did own a truck years ago. And the shocks were bad, right from the factory. They changed them and everything was ok. usually to tell if the shocks are bad, is to notice oil leaking out from under the top shock sleeve.
At one time my father had a new Dodge ram and he had it back to the Dealership several times. they eventually changed the rims, all four of them. They were out if round.
Those are cheap tires to begin with, do yourself a favor and get some Goodyears. Also you may want to consider getting some better shocks. I suggest Bilstein's or KYB's, the Bilstein's are the best you can get but ride faily stiff, also when you beat them up they get stiffer. They will almost outlast your truck, I have had mine now for almost 5 years on my f-150, before that I went through 2 other pairs of cheaper socks like monroes. The KYB's are also very good and not quite as stiff, they ride nicer for everyday driving but for serious offroading the Bilsteins are untouceable. Also one more thing that may affect the bounce is your tire pressure, keep it at what the manual says.
I do stress getting some better shocks, they are not a lot of money because you will not have to replace them for a long time if ever. For 4 shocks it will run you around $140-$160. A cheap investment if you ask me.
