I have a 2004 40th Anniv. Mustang V6 with 72000 miles on it and I'm looking at a 2006 Ford F-150 XLT 4.6 Reg. cab with 41000 miles. It has typical wear and tear (bed scratched, driver side window they are going to fix, small dent in front bumper). Trade-in and all im looking at 244 a month for 5 1/2 years with a 1000 down. Does this seem reasonable? My insurance will drop atleast 30 a month. My Mustang only averages about 17 mpg. I assume the truck will average somewhat close to that highway right, since its a reg. cab? I don't tow much And they will let me keep my Mach 1 wheels and throw in a bed liner.
Thanks guys, Mustangs are awesome, but I miss my Ford truck....

I don't know, how much that truck actually costs, but there are some great deals out there with really nice trucks, so look around. But all around it doesn't seem like a big deal.
You can get a BRAND NEW F150 Regular cab for around 16K right now. Payments should be around $250. Dealers are working good deals thru Ford right now so shop around. Why get used if you can get new in the same ball park

The amount of 66 payments plus your down payment is somewhat more than $17,000--PLUS your trade in???? Sounds like a you're paying well over 22 grand for a used truck with 41k miles. Dealers bury a lot of stuff in financing, etc, and try to rope in people who *just* look at the monthly payment.
If gas is up to $10 per gallon in three years, where will that leave you? If the truck blows up in three years, where will that leave you? You'll have 2.5 more years of payments at that point.
Financing a used vehicle over 5.5 years is just too long. Buy a new truck if you're going to string it out that long, and sell your car on your own. The car should sell pretty well--Mustangs are desirable and V6's are going to be popular right now. The truck's mileage will be somewhat worse than the Mustang's. You should be getting well over 17 mpg with a V6 unless you drive really hard...and if you drive the truck really hard you'll get 12 mpg.
Thanks for the opinions. I bought the car last year in August. If I could build the perfect truck for me, it would be this one (new of course). Buying a used car/truck is always a gamble. I got to take it home and I put 200 miles on it and had no issues. Its is very nice and I wanted one with some of the new-ness rubbed off. That is the final deal getting me out from under the 'Stang. If yall don't think its good, I'll pass...
We only paid 12k for my wifes with a v six brand new. the 8 cylinder shound not be that much more. My service advisor told me employee pricing was 11k.
