Not sure if JC Whitney has them... I got a set for my '75 F-250 SC a while back. They were made by Flowmaster. (longtube /scavenging type) were said to get 8-10 HP. AND got 31" Thrush flothru glaspaks for the dual exhaust. Then added an "X" pipe where the 2 pipes come together. Not looking for noise, but a few more ponies under the hood is noticed. I'd ask/call around your local parts places. (( AND ask for the HP/torque spec's))
He wants shorties, as far as I know (and I've been looking for a few years) Sanderson makes the only shorties that'll work on the 351m400. I finally bit the $400+ bullet and bought some.
I just purchased an old but new and never installed set of Black Label Eagle headers (shorties) for my 351m that is now a 408. They said on the box, " 1979 F-250 4x4 manual ". Well, they didn't even come close to fitting. I honestly think that they had the measurements backwards for the headers. (the right header should have been for the left side and vise-versa.) I cut them up and welded in new tubes and patches so now the damn things fit. before, they hit the frame, starter, and front driveshaft. The drivers side header also had to be bent a little bit at the connector. What a PITA. Don't buy Black Label Eagle headers if you can even find them.
Take a look at my gallery under Headers 101. This is a set of Sanderson FC-3's and they work great. Had them on for a couple of years now and they still look the same.
