Nitrous straight six

has anyone ever done a small nitrous shot on there straight six like a 30 or 40 horse shot?

I don't know of anyone on here that has tried it. It really isn't a very good idea because of the low rpm nature of the 300, not to mention that it isn't very cost effective at the level youare considering. 20 years ago the rule of thumb was that you shouldn't use nitrous below 3500 rpm because it would eat parts, but they didn't have progessive controllers back then. Modern electronic controls have made it possible to use it in applications where it couldn't be used previously. A quick look at what will be going on in your engine and the financial part of the equation would prevent me from bothering with it. The rpm range it would be used in is about 2500-3500. At 2500 a 40 shot will add about 85 ft-lbs or torque and at 3500 it will add about 60 ft-lbs. Neither of those are going to overwhelm the stock bottom end, but if you up the spray to a 75 shot you are tempting fate. The reason I mention the 75 shot is because you are probably going to end up there anyway, and you have to go there to make the nitrous cost effective. For the money you spend on a 40 shot you could have added the power with bolt ons and had it all the time.
