Hi, I have a 2006 F-150 crew cab. Just bought custom seat covers, that require the rear seat to be removed for installation. Its driving me crazy. Has anyone ever had to remove the rear seat?
I can normaly take any thing apart, but this has me wanting to use a big hammer. I have the three bolts that hold the lower seat out, but cant see anything else.
Damn...you only wanted to use a hammer?...I was googling Semtex, C-4, and Dynamite.
There are 3 (I believe) clips behind the back. You have to pull the seat up, and force your hand in there with a screwdriver to pop those clips. Undo the seat belts, and lift the back straight up. I think there's also a couple of bolts (10 or 12mm) under there. I did it once, and pray to God I never have to do another one of those. Truck came to our shop wanting some stereo stuff added. Took about 2hrs to remove that damn seat.
Just thought I would give an update in case anyone wants to attempt this. The rear seat back comes off just like FatalErrorz said. Take off the seat belt attachment and lift on the rear seat back REAL HARD and it will come off the three clips holding it. Once the rear seat back is off, all the bolts holding the bottom are acessable.
It took me three hours, in a well equipped shop, to complete this project. I ended up bleeding from three places on my left hand and one on my forearm. The metal bracing on the back of the seats is really sharp! I also was drinking heavily by the end of it. My advice would be to wear gloves and start drinking before you attempt this.
