So as most of you know I just got my X last week and they put new brakes and rotors front and rear. I have been noticing that they pull to the left when braking. Before I take it back to my dealer I wanted to get some advise on what to expect. Would it be the new brakes or would it be the callipers? Drives perfectly straight so its not the alignment or tires. Thanks
I replaced both slide pins when I installed the Powerslot cryo treated rotors on my Ex.
One pin came right out, but the other pin was stuck. I was luckier than some guys though, because I was able to work the pin out with a pair of pliers and a bunch of elbow grease and grunting. Some guys have pins frozen in their calipers and use torches and stuff to get them out.
Thanks Stewart, that website has great detailed information! Now I need to find out if this is something that would be covered under the Premium ESP Ford Warranty!!! If not hubby and I will be doing the repair ourself!
If the dealer just did the brakes, they did a half-a$$ed job! If you were to go in and pay them to have it done, they would have been replacing every piece of hardware and rubber, and charging YOU for it. Sort of like the ads for Midas: a cheap price advertised, but small print says something about additional parts and labor may be required at a substantial cost.
Take it back and complain about it (I'd say......about it, but....)

Tiffany:
Was it the dealer that replaced the brakes? If so, they did a half-a$$ed job. Had you gone to Midas, Meineke, or the dealer to have this repair done at YOUR expense, they would ahve been telling you to replace nearly every piece of related harware. You should go back and raise a stink (I would say b!@#h at them, but....) This seems like them fixing it on the cheap.
The dealer actually did it for free for me, so I cant raise a stink plus my Mom is the owners secretary! But I do know that it was their used car department that did the brakes and I wasnt pleased with that. SO since I have a Premium ESP I am taking it to the regular service department and I will have my friends repair it if its the caliper.
Normally we do our own brakes but the X couldnt be sold to me without them so we had no choice but to let them fix it. I'm sure it was fixed on the cheap side thankfully I didnt pay for it!!!
A good tip for pulling stuck pins in calipers is to clamp on a vice grips and laying the caliper on the edge of a strong table or something of the sort, and carefully hammering the caliper down, forcing the pin to slide out. This has been by far the easiest method I have found to pull stuck pins in calipers.
