Is this a tranny problem?

I noticed something today messing around with my super duty i bought 3 days ago. its a 06 2wd F-250 SD, 5.4L super cab, long bed, auto tranny with about 100k on it.

Ok gunning the truck right off the line the tranny i thought was acting wierd but ive never owned a heavy duty truck so im not sure if this is hows it suppost to behave. What is does is takes off (wont peel the tires) then from about 2000-4000 rps its pulses (2-3 times) like it was a standard tranny and you were tapping the clutch pedal. enough so you can feel the acceleration change but not like the clutch totaly disengages. there is always acceleration present. then at about 5000 rpms you can feel the engine really bite in and you take off! then it goes to second gear and so forth. should i be worried?

If i can clarify any thing for you let me know.

Im planning on having it sent to a tranny shop to get power flushed and the filters changed i just dont want to be hit with a surprise.

It's possible you are feeling the torque converter lock up. At certain speeds, the TC locks to the crank like a manual. You should notice a 2-300 rpm decrease.

I've never felt it without a tune or modified valvebody though.
