I was going toa friends house it drove fine,but when i went to go up his driveway it would not make it.I cut overdrive off and it drove up it just fine,but with overdrive on it won't do anything in drive or reverse.A few people told me it was the overdrive spring in the transmission.What do you think it is

Sounds to me like you probably need a rebuild, at least a valve body rebuild. I do know know of this spring, I don't work on transmissions myself. But I do know that whether this spring is shot or not, you probably have a few other developing problems. Issues like yours are invariably causes by either valve body issues, or excessive wear to the bands and clutches. For now, until you can get it properly fixed, do not use OD.
