I might be settin myself up here for some flack, but I'm gonna ask anyway. My floorboards in my 66 F100 are rusted out pretty bad. I need new ones asap, but im also on an extremely tight budget lately. I love wood interior stuff, and it crossed my mind that maybe i could bolt in wood floorboards using marine grade wood or something of that sort. I could seal the bottom with some type of sound/weather protection. And if I changed my mind i could always go with the traditional metal later on when i have more cash.
I've never been to many car shows or seen too many examples of what guys do to fix the floorboards. And i searched around on the internet and this site and couldn't find anything about using wood, which makes me think there's some obvious reasons against this i'm not thinking of.
The driver's side on mine was pretty bad when I got it. I found a piece of sheet aluminum and pop rivited it in. Works great until I get ready to weld in a new one.
I don't know about issues regarding wood. I'm kindof picturing that you want to see the wood, right? Might be pretty cool. Anything that keeps your feet up and fumes out is good.
I too, being in the houseing construction feild love wood. I say go for it and when you are doing it and figureing out all the in's and outs posy pics. of what your doing. Sounds like something i may want to do myself...
