So I went to change oil in the girlfriends '01 Escape on Monday evening and got it done last night. The last time it was changed it was done at the dealer. I just couldn't find the time to do it myself. So Monday I get under it and get the fliter off, thinking boy that was not very tight. I was pleased because I figured the nuckle head would have over tightened it. Then I put the ratchet on the drain plug and went to slide myslef under just a little bit far when I notice the ratchet was pointing down. No big deal thought it just needed reversed. NO. The weight of the ratchet itself loosened the drain plug. So I unscrew it and go to wipe it clean when, ouch something poked my finger. Taking a closer look at the plug I noticed the threads from the pan were attached to the plug. #$%@&@*@%#^& holes. Well that is nice. So trying to find an oversized at 6pm was impossible. The next morning I go to the local part store (x3), nobody had on in stock. So I had one of them order on. It was in later that day. Of course it was the wrong one. I knew better than to let that idiot help me. I should have came back when one of the other guys that always help me was there. So now this is Tuesday and I still can't finish. So my regular guy orders one for me and I can pick it up Wed. Of course it was the right one but now I have to wait until I get off work to try it and that was not until 10pm last night. So finally I get the 15 minute oil change done 2 days later. All of this over some idiot that could not tell that he over tightened the plug and could not feel the threads pilling out of the pan. I'm glad it didn't come out over the 4,000 miles it was in there as loose as it was. Again *^%@#$%*&^%$%%*^&%&&* dealer.
Never trust anyone to do something you can do yourself.....take a bag of marbles to the car lot and put 8-9 in each car's gas tankon the sale lot...that'll learn 'em smart
Never trust anyone to do something you can do yourself.....
I understand that but at times you have to bite the bullet and have things done for you. This was one of those times. It would not have bothered me if they said hey the oil pan plug stripped and we had to put an oversized in it. I know that s@#t happens like that. I've done it myself.
