I ordered a SuperCrew in New York on March 15 and I have not even been given a build date yet. I have called Ford Customer service(10+ times) to learn that the Dealership owns the process and there is nothing that they can tell me.
Is anyone familiar with the ordering/build process? It's going on 4 months now and the dealer tells me that this is normal. It was put on hold a couple of times for "Material Hold", but the dealer insists that the F series trucks this time of the year are hard to come by.
I don't buy it, but there is nothing I can do. Has anyone contacted the factory before?
When I asked my local dealer about ordering a Lariat, he said that Ford is about to begin a new model year (2002), and that if I were to put in an order (which was June 25), the build on it would not even begin until mid-August when the assembly lines were tooled up for the 2002 run. After that, it would take 6 weeks or so. He said the earliest I could get a custom vehicle if I ordered today would be the end of September.
So, although you seem to be getting the run around on good information, it does seem reasonable that you won't get a vehicle for a while due to model changeover.
