I have a couple tranny cooler questions. I picked up a used cooler from a V10 that I want to put in series with the factory cooler (yes I know an aftermarket one would be better but cannot afford that right now). Can I mount that right above the existing cooler? Is there any reason that I cannot mount it upside down if necessary?
I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work just as well if mounted upside-down.
But, I gotta' ask, "Why was it available used?" I'd sure be absolutely sure it was spotless inside if I were going to use a used one. One small metal chip from the previous transmission failure might cause YOURS to then fail. Be careful!
It was out of a crashed truck. Any oil that has come out has looked real clean. No oil leaks evident on the cooler either. I think I will put the inline filter in also as extra insurance.
I got mine at a local wrecking yard. Seems to be kind of hit or miss though. As previously posted make sure any used one is free of debri. Still cannot decide if I should mount it above the stock cooler or in front of the ac cooler, directly behind the grill.
